New PHIX Academic Study on the Value of Health Information Exchanges

2025 study published in the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine found during a chart-review study of Emergency Department Physicians using PHIX data that information from a prior emergency department visit would have been change the approach during a subsequent emergency department visit in 69% of cases. In 67% of cases, it would have enabled the physician to use or compare prior lab or imaging results. In 73% of cases, it would have led to a better understanding of patient behavioral patterns.
